Benham brothers say Christians and Muslims both don't like homosexuality, but their responses to it are different

Identical twins David and Jason Benham, television hosts and former baseball players, are offering their condolences to the families who have been victimised by the tragic shooting at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, which left 50 people dead and 53 others injured.

On their Facebook page, the two posted a short video with a message that they are "heartbroken for the families and those [who] were killed" in the shooting spree at Pulse. "We as Christians, we as just common sense Americans, need to keep our eyes peeled and stand up for the defenseless and the innocent. All of these that were killed at this nightclub were innocent, and their lives should have never been taken," they say.

The killer, 29-year-old Omar Mateen, was a Muslim who reportedly hated LGBT people. People vented their anger at anti-gay Christian speakers after the massacre, accusing them of promoting an antagonistic view towards the gay community that could have induced the gunman to attack.

To help clarify the issue, the Benham brothers point out that Christians and Muslims have different views on the matter. "Here's the interesting thing. We as Christians believe that homosexuality is wrong, and the [Muslims], they believe it is wrong. But our response is different," they say.

"We've been going to gay pride marches for the past decade, and we're planning on going this year to the Charlotte gay pride march. But we're going to bring the love of Jesus, to people who need Jesus. Look, these are our gay brothers and sisters, and we need to stand up for them now. That's our Christian response," they add.

The Benham brothers say they will continue to pray that God does "some mighty work" on the lives of the victims' families so that there will be revival and awakening in America. The two stress that America needs God more than ever, and only He can truly restore the nation.
