'Attack on Titan' season 2: release date not expected this month

 Funimation

Fans are still waiting for the arrival of "Attack on Titan's" new season, and for now, it looks as though the ordeal may be lasting a bit longer than they may have wanted.

So far, it's widely believed that the sophomore season of the anime will be released this year, but no one really knows exactly when that will happen.

Recently, rumors surrounding the series had begun to suggest that the next season might debut sometime around the launch of the "Attack on Titan" video game.

With the "Attack on Titan" video game already set to launch on Feb. 18, fans had begun to look out for any possible hints suggesting that the series would be following shortly thereafter, but they have had no luck so far.

The show's producers have continued to remain silent when it comes to the premiere date of season 2 as well, leading fans to believe that the wait may last for at least a little while longer.

Should "Attack on Titan's" producers pass up the opportunity to release any big news around the same time that the video game is released, there's still a chance for cross-promotional opportunities down the line.

Thanks to Re: Zaregoto, fans now know that Koei Tecmo has some content drops planned for the game that are expected to make their debuts at different points spread out over the next few weeks. These include a multiplayer update that is set to be launched on March 24.

If "Attack on Titan" will not make its return this February, then there's a chance that its second season could make its debut next month, making a tie-in opportunity with the March 24 downloadable content (DLC) drop at least somewhat plausible.

Going back to the series, rumors also suggest that the upcoming season may actually be the final one.

According to Design and Trend, if the second season of the anime ends up covering four different story arcs, then there may be no more episodes coming in the future.

With so much uncertainty continuing to surround the "Attack on Titan" anime, fans have no other choice than to continually stay updated to find out exactly what is in store for their favorite series.
