Asus Zenfone 2 vs. OnePlus 2 rumored specs comparison: Which to get?

 Asus’ official website

OnePlus 2 is yet to take center stage but there are expectations that the handset is going to be running Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 SoC. Since the device is going to be landing in Q3, 2015, the company will most likely incorporate v1.3 of the mobile chipset, which performs far better compared to the previous iterations. Currently Xiaomi's Mi Note Pro is the only known smartphone which features the latest variant of Snapdragon 810.

In terms of pure performance, OnePlus 2 will definitely take the crown, since Zenfone 2, which is running Intel's Atom Z3580 SoC, will not be able to hold out against the octa-core processor expected to be present in the upcoming smartphone. However, where price/performance matters, Zenfone 2 will easily be able to make short work of its rival.

Unfortunately, the smartphone is not loaded with features that are expected to be present from a flagship handset. Zenfone 2 is void of a finger print scanner while OnePlus 2 is expected to be fitted with one that will rival the TouchID interface present in Apple's high-end smartphones. OnePlus 2 is also expected to feature a much better camera sensor compared to its predecessor, OnePlus One.

So far, no model of Zenfone 2 is able to capture videos at the 2160p resolution, which is not the same case as OnePlus One. However, Zenfone 2 does feature 4 GB of RAM, and there are rumors suggesting that OnePlus 2 will only feature 3 GB of RAM like its lesser performing counterpart.

Since OnePlus 2 is expected to be running a Snapdragon 810, then it will automatically warrant the company to incorporate a larger battery pack compared to OnePlus One, which currently features a 3,100 mAh cell. In contrast, Zenfone 2 only features a 3,000 mAh battery.

At the end of the smartphone skirmish, it will definitely be OnePlus 2 that wins the performance award, but if users want to get their hands on a device without spending too much money, then Zenfone 2 still remains the ideal choice.
