 Asus.com

Asus, the largest motherboard maker in the world, has announced its GR6 PC gaming console. The product is part of the company's ROG (Republic of Gamers) lineup and possesses a high degree of portability thanks to its slim form factor. Possessing a weight of just 1.28 kg and featuring dimensions of 23.8 cm by 24.5 cm by 6 cm, GR6 possesses hardware specs that will easily trump the capabilities of both Xbox One and PS4. Asus' ROG lineup of products are not priced competitively and although pricing details of GR6 have not been detailed, the PC gaming console will most likely not carry a cheap price tag.

According to Hot Hardware, GR6 is running Intel's 14 nm Broadwell processor named i5 5200U. Additionally, the PC gaming console also provides 8 GB of DDR3L-1600 RAM, which is upgradable to 16 GB. The website does not state whether or not the product will come fitted with a HDD or SSD solution, but it does provide accommodation for both types of storage mediums. To provide fluid graphical performance, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M GPU has been provided and for online gaming sessions, users can choose to either connect to the internet via an 802.11 ac Wi-Fi adapter or GbE LAN.

Given below are all the connectivity ports that come with GR6:

  • 2 USB 2.0 ports
  • 4 USB 3.0 ports
  • One HDMI port
  • One DisplayPort port
  • 3.5 mm audio and mic jacks

It has not been confirmed whether GR6 will be receiving Microsoft's Windows 10 update or not, but it will come running with the company's Windows 8.1 platform. In addition, gamers will be pleased to know that they will either receive a Gladius mouse and M801 keyboard or ORG Sica mouse and RA01 keyboard combo with the purchase of their GR6.

As stated before, gamers who intend on purchasing the product should not expect a cheap price tag, seeing as how GR6 belongs to Asus' ROG lineup.
