'Grey's Anatomy' Season 12 spoilers: Reconciliations are in the works

Fans of ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" can once again watch their favorite medical drama when its newest season returns on September 24.

Season 12 will feature a lot of changes to the show's cast, including permanent additions. It was earlier confirmed that Jason George, who plays Dr. Ben Warren, has been promoted as a series regular. The good doctor will be moving back to Seattle from Los Angeles to follow Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) and will land a fifth intern position.

"I'm the newest series regular on 'Grey's Anatomy.' So there you go, you are not done with me, I'm going to be around for a little bit!" George told Tribute last June.

Meanwhile, Sarah Drew, who portrays Dr. April Kepner, told Entertainment Weekly that the newest installment would feature more of April and Jackson Avery's (Jesse Williams) storyline.

Last season, the couple experienced a tragedy with the death of their only son, Samuel. April then confessed to Jackson of her plans to re-join the army. Although he gave her his blessings, Jackson said he would not wait for her return.

Drew assured fans that the romance of April and Jackson was not yet over. She also expressed hopes that the two could work out their issues.

"We haven't actually broken up. We're left on the precipice. He's given me an ultimatum that gives us room to figure out what's going to happen next season. We'll see where the show takes us in Season 12," the actress said.

As for the possibility that April takes over Dr. Owen Hunt's (Kevin McKidd) place as chief, she was quick to say that would be a stretch for her character.

"There's so much paperwork. You get buried in the politics of the hospital. All she wants to do is get her hands dirty. She wants to be in traumatic situations, fixing and healing people. She has found herself to be a healer in a pretty dramatic way that goes beyond being a surgeon. There's something that's spiritual for her," Drew said.

Meanwhile, fans of Dr. Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw) and Dr. Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez) will be delighted to know that the two may rekindle their romance in Season 12.

Capshaw told TV Line that her character and Callie would "learn how to peacefully coexist." As for the rumor that Arizona may find a new love on the show, the actress said it was doubtful. "There was definite forward movement happening for Arizona, but it didn't quite fit into the larger storyline," she said.
