Recently the Beijing-based Chinese electronics company Xiaomi, in a bid to expand their already wide range of products, has officially ventured into the virtual reality world by launching its first ever mobile virtual reality (VR) headset dubbed Mi VR Play in China.

According to a report the feature that makes Xiaomi Mi VR headset unique from the other brands is its design. It is compatible with any mobile phone be it iPhone or an Android device. Equipped with a two-way zipper design with dual front openings it is designed for easier adjustment for any smartphone that has a screen size ranging from 4.7 and 5.7 inches to be secured in place.

It's also deemed as a very basic headset purposefully made to bring the VR experience to a much wider audience. Xiaomi Mi VR headset was reportedly to launch with Google's Daydream VR platform compatibility along with the Android 7.0 Nougat but it seems Xiaomi settled with an entry-level VR headset instead

The Mi VR headset also uses Lycra fabric, which Xiaomi claims is skin-friendly and comfortable to wear on. The headset measures 201 mm in length, 91 mm in depth and 107 mm in height. It is also light weight given that it weights just 208.7 gms and works with Mi VR companion app with 3D movies, 2D or gaming applications. The upcoming device will be priced with a reasonable price tag at only $99.

"The company has opened up the beta reservation for its first VR headset, and the reservation starts at 1 Yuan once the beta tester is selected", reports IndianExpress

Apart from that the headset will be released with a selection of bold prints and colors; a leopard print, floral, denim, camo and even a Van Gogh starry night design. Meanwhile Xiaomi is now also releasing smartphones to support any VR headset, which was not their domain till now.
