Xbox Scorpio release date, specs news update: Console to be more expensive than Xbox One S - Microsoft executives

Gamers should expect to shell out more cash if they want to get a hold of the upcoming high-end gaming console from Microsoft called the Xbox One Scorpio.

Xbox's marketing head Aaron Greenberg revealed during the Xbox FanFest that the specs of the upcoming gaming console can be considered as the most powerful one once it comes out on the market.

"It will bring these really true 4K, really incredible visual games that we've never seen before on the console," Greenberg said during the Xbox FanFest as reported by Express UK.

He also mentioned that players who will purchase the upcoming Xbox One Scorpio will have the same gaming experience that one could get in high-end gaming PCs.

Xbox head Phil Spencer also revealed in an interview with Spanish website LevelUp.com that the Xbox One Scorpio will be more expensive compared to their current Xbox One S product line since the former will be made as a premium console. "That's how we're building it," Spencer said in the interview. "We haven't announced price points for Scorpio yet, but I want to make sure that the investments we're putting into the product of Scorpio meets the demands of the higher end customer, and that will be a higher price," he went on to say.

Rumors claim that the upcoming Xbox One Scorpio will be equipped with an octa-core processor with 6TFLOPS of capacity as well as 230 GB of internal memory. It is also expected to have a 4K resolution support for better graphics display. The upcoming Xbox One Scorpio is also expected to have VR capacities as well as HDR game support upon release.

On the other hand, other reports mentioned that the upcoming high-end line of Xbox One will be equipped with high-performance semi-custom SoCs from AMD.

The game titles for the Xbox One Scorpio are yet to be announced, but the console is expected to have backward compatibility support upon release.
