After banning players who uploaded Chris Benoit content on "WWE 2K15," the game developer now decided to delete the contents related to the late wrestler instead.
Last week, a player took his complaint to Twitter, saying that his "WWE 2K15" account was banned from the game for no apparent reason. Upon checking, community manager replied that the player's account was barred because he "uploaded a Chris Benoit face to community creations."
In his other tweets, the community manager reminded "WWE 2K15" players that the game is still under license from WWE, and that there are certain rules that they need to follow. It includes not creating any content that the enterprise deemed inappropriate, including anything related to Chris Benoit.
Benoit, a former WWE World Heavyweight Champion, committed suicide after killing his wife Nancy and son Daniel. This led to WWE's decision to drop anything related to the deceased Canadian wrestler, including his merchandise, his name on his official anthem, as well as his signature moves and character on the "WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2010" video game. The enterprise also decided to distance itself from anything related to Benoit since the double murder-suicide incident happened in June 2007.
But after Stephenson said that they will ban players who upload a Benoit content in the game, he retracted and said that they will just delete the inappropriate contents abruptly. He also reminded players to abide by the rules and avoid creating and uploading contents that related to the late wrestler.
Meanwhile, most of the "WWE 2K15" players who had problems with the game when using their Xbox One consoles have recently reported that their saved data have been reset. After learning about the issue, 2K promised that they will do their best to identify the problem.
The game developer also offered an advice to the players, saying, "It's possible to avoid the issue by not letting the game idle on the title screen. As long as you don't let the game idle on its title screen, you should not encounter this issue."
