Windows 10 Mobile release pushed back

It looks like Microsoft is missing another deadline.

The Redmond-based software giant was apparently shooting for a January rollout for Windows 10 Mobile, which was initially scheduled to be available December 2015. However, Venture Beat claims that Microsoft will now dispatch Windows 10 Mobile next month.

Users will remember that the company delayed the rollout to "early 2016" but was quiet about it as the new year approached.

Details about the new Windows 10 Mobile schedule were reportedly sent out by Microsoft to its partners via e-mail. In the email, the company stated that the software is "not ready yet."

The e-mail also reveals a monthly service update for Microsoft Lumia 950 and 950 XL, the first Lumia handsets with Windows 10 Mobile on board. The service was also delayed to "early to mid" February. No specific date was set, however.

From what it looks like, Microsoft wants to make sure that Windows phone users who have been anxiously waiting for the update will receive the fully-operational, bug-free Windows 10 Mobile they always wanted to get.

It is better to miss the deadline with a refined firmware than hit the target schedule with some buggy software, which would entail more work. When a problematic version becomes accessible to millions of users, it's tedious providing a fix.

For now, fans will simply have to wait until Windows 10 Mobile is truly ready for use. With February fast approaching, users can expect details about the rollout to trickle in soon.

Meanwhile, Windows 10 Mobile has now been tweaked to support x86 chipsets. Previously, it only offers compatibility with ARM-based processors. This enhancement, Tech Times says, should help Microsoft compete with its rivals.

This should also allow the tech firm to produce more types of handsets. And this could very well be the foundation of the Microsoft Surface Phone, which is believed to be the smartphone counterpart of its popular Surface hybrids.
