'Walking Dead season 6' premiere, spoilers, cast news: 3 Alexandria residents promoted to regulars

 AMC

More Alexandria drama will be featured in "The Walking Dead" as three of its residents have been confirmed to get more airtime in the show's sixth season.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Alexandria Safe Zone community leader Deana Monroe (Tovah Feldshuh), her son Spencer (Austin Nichols), and the abused wife Jessie Anderson (Alexandra Breckenridge) will be seen regularly in "The Walking Dead" season 6. The characters were introduced in season 5 when Rick Grimes and the group reached the gated community after being invited by Alexandria recruiter Aaron (Ross Marquand).

Deana accepted the group wholeheartedly, and even entrusted Rick to supervise the security inside the Safe Zone as the town constable.

Jessie, on the other hand, instantly became friends with Rick after he let her cut his hair. When he discovered that her husband Pete (Corey Brill) was hurting her and their children, he confronted him, which later on turned into a physical fight. This caused Deana to reconsider Rick's role in the community. But after the drunk Pete accidentally slashed the throat of Deana's husband Reg (Steve Coulter), she gave him permission to kill Pete in front of Jessie.

Back in season 5, fans of the series where hoping for Jessie to be a love interest of Rick. Yet after witnessing how he killed her husband, it would be interesting to see if there will be a change in the dynamics in their relationship.

Other returning cast in "The Walking Dead" season 6 include Norman Reedus as Daryl, Chandler Riggs as Carl, Melissa McBride as Carol, Danai Gurira as Michonne, Sonequa Martin-Green as Sasha, Lennie James as Morgan, Lauren Cohan as Maggie, Steven Yeun as Glenn, Christian Serratos as Rosita, Michael Cudlitz as Abraham, Seth Gilliam as Father Gabriel, Alanna Masterson as Tara, and Josh McDermitt as Eugene.

New cast members will also be introduced in the upcoming season, including Ethan Embry as Carter, Corey Hawkins as Heath, as well as Emmy-winner Merritt Wever as Dr. Denise Cloyd.

"The Walking Dead" season 6 premieres on with a 90-minute episode on Sunday, Oct. 11, on AMC.
