In two weeks, "Vikings" will finally return to the small screen for its fifth season, and it will give fans a two-hour action-packed episode to compensate the long wait. History already released the synopses of season 5 and the pilot episode, teasing what is in store as the series moves past the era of Ragnar (Travis Kimmel).
Vikings France announced on Facebook that the premiere would run four two hours. After the death of the King last year, the new season kicks off with Ragnar's sons split, exploring out into the edges of the world where they have yet to step foot.
Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård), who still suffers from the death of his wife, Helga (Maude Hirst), sets sail on a journey to the seas under the will of the gods. Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig), on the other hand, follows his destiny into the Mediterranean Sea where he will find a new land that would test him. There will be new alliances and unbelievable betrayals as they both fight to conquer these uncharted lands.
However, these expeditions will not completely forget Ivar's forbidding actions in the past. According to the synopsis translated by International Business Times, Sigurd's (David Lindstrom) murder in the hands of his brother causes a stir between the siblings, and tensions will start right at the first episode.
While King Aethelwulf (Moe Dunford) and his family continue hiding, Bishop Heahmund (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) will defend the kingdom against invaders by rallying Saxon forces. Meanwhile, the Great Army will move to take York.
Legartha (Katheryn Winnick) also continues to reign as the Queen of Kattegat. However, while she faces off with Ivar for the control over the land, a new enemy rises. These have been teased in the previous trailer, also giving a glimpse of the bloody civil war between the brothers.
