'Uncharted 4' multiplayer DLC release date set for May 10

Naughty Dog officially released details of the multiplayer DLC of "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" days before its May 10 release.

The game's lead designer Robert Cogburn talked about the upcoming multiplayer DLC in a post on the PlayStation blog. According to Cogburn, all of the game's next maps and modes will be released for free. He also said that all the upcoming vanity and gameplay items from the in-game store can be unlocked after finishing a particular gameplay.

"Our DLC release approach will represent an entirely new direction for Naughty Dog, and we are confident it will have a hugely positive impact and keep the Uncharted 4 Multiplayer community thriving," the lead game designer said.

Cogburn also pointed out that the decision to come up with free DLC will prevent the multiplayer community to be "fragmented" because of different DLC purchases. They just came up with a new in-game currency called Relics, which can be earned by finishing different gameplays. This means that players will be rewarded just by playing the game.

The lead game designer further explained how Relics work, saying: "You acquire Relics by either completing daily Challenges or winning matches, and you can spend them on DLC Chests. You will be able to pick between a DLC Vanity Chest or a DLC Gameplay Chest; when you open it, you'll earn new items. Neither chest type will ever give you a duplicate item."

Also, the post explained that those who opted to purchase the Triple Pack of "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" can access the very first single-player story add-on for the series in the future. It will also come out with two multiplayer packs. The first one includes different items such as a Long Gun, a Booster, a Skin, one Hat, and a brand-new Taunt. The second multiplayer pack will have a Pistol, a new Booster, one Mystical and one Hat, as well as another new Taunt.

A multiplayer roadmap will also be released with the upcoming "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" next month.
