'True Detective' season 2 premiere spoilers: Two new posters hint at things to come

The excitement for the season two premiere of Nic Pizzolatto's highly acclaimed neo-noir crime drama is starting to build up, after HBO released two new animated posters for "True Detective 2."

One of the posters that were uploaded via True Detective's official Twitter account showed a photo taken under an interstate during nighttime with a big glowing fire that can be clearly seen beyond the horizon. It does not feature anyone from this season's lineup of stars who are included in the cast, but it showcased the phrase "We Get the World We Deserve" inscribed in the middle of the poster.

The other one is a black and white animated poster, showing a bird-eye view of intersecting highways. It also featured cars moving continuously in the moving image, with the same phrase inscribed just like the first poster. Again, the characters from the new season are also missing in the poster.

Speculations claim that both posters show different viewpoints of the California highway system, which is rumored to be a big component of this season's plot.

According to HBO's official synopsis for the new season of True Detective, "A bizarre murder brings together three law-enforcement officers and a career criminal, each of whom must navigate a web of conspiracy and betrayal in the scorched landscapes of California."

True Detective 2 stars Colin Farrell as Ray Velcoro, a compromised police detective from the City of Vinci in LA County. He is joined by Vince Vaughn who portrays the role of professional criminal and businessman Frank Semyon, Rachel McAdams as the Ventura County Sheriff detective Ani Bezzerides, as well as Taylor Kitsch who plays the role of motorcycle cop and former war soldier Paul Woodrugh who found a crime scene that later on triggers an investigation linking three law enforcement groups, criminal forces, and several billions of dollars.

HBO's True Detective season 2 premieres on June 21.
