"True Detective" fans are still not giving up hope that HBO will order a third season of the dark crime drama anthology.

True Detective Rumors listed down some speculations and possible story arcs for the show should it be picked up for another season.

Series creator Nic Pizzolatto should hire more writers to develop the scripts for "True Detective" season 3, according to the site. A lot of changes are necessary in order to provide viewers with a better installment after the disappointing second season, the site added.

Also, the website suggested that "True Detective" season 3 should tone down its dark plot, especially since the previous season's extreme dark tone cost them most of their viewers. While fans are not expecting the show to go into the light drama genre, the site suggested that Pizzolatto and his crew should find a way to handle the overall plot of the series in order to make it easier to watch.

While HBO has yet to confirm if they are planning to order another "True Detective" season, the network's president Michael Lombardo told the press during the Television Critics Association panel in August that he still wants to see the show on TV.

"I'd love to do another season," Lombardo explained. "I haven't asked every one of the 12 million viewers who is watching, but I think what [Pizzolatto's] doing is so much bolder, braver and satisfying than what I'm seeing in film. I'd happily be in business with him for a long time."

Lombardo is also known as a solid supporter of Pizzolatto. He signed the director who he described as "one of the best writers working in television and motion pictures today" for another contract with the network.

While fans are still waiting to hear the news about "True Detective" season 3, Den of Geek speculated that the new season could possibly air in winter or spring 2017.
