There's a new face on East Peck.

Kristin Chenoweth is officially on board "Trial and Error" season 2, according to reports. The actress has been tapped to play Lavinia Peck-Foster, the first lady of East Peck. Known for her flamboyant style, Lavinia is an eccentric heiress who has a penchant for large hats. She has a cat named Fluffy who has never left Peck Gardens. After her husband Edgard's body was found hidden in a suitcase at the back of her vehicle, she calls on Josh Segal (Nicholas D'Agosto) and Associates to prove her innocence.

"We are delighted to have such a comedic powerhouse join our show," said series executive producer Jeff Astrof in a press release. "When we decided we were doing a murderess, we knew there could be only one person big enough to fill John Lithgow's skates. She was our first choice all along and thankfully for us became available at the right time. Murdering and karaoke in East Peck will never be more fun."

Astrof previously teased that each season of the show will focus on a different murderer. After season 1 featured John Lithgow as owl murderer Larry Henderson, Astrof said the next suspect will be a "murderess" but did not say it was Chenoweth at the time. So far, further details about the show's storyline are still being kept under wraps.

"I'm excited to slip into a role that feels very right for me at this time," Chenoweth stated. "Plus, I'm surrounded by genius comedic actors and brilliant writing. I admire John Lithgow so much and want to make him proud by continuing what he began."

The 2017 sitcom is not Chenoweth's first project with NBC. She recently appeared in the network's live production of "Hairspray." Her other TV credits include roles in ABC's "Pushing Daisies" and Fox's "Glee."

"Trial and Error" season 2 is expected to premiere this year on NBC. A definitive release date has yet to be announced.
