Comedian Jerrod Carmichael could be the latest addition to "Transformers 5," if a new report by The Wrap is anything to go by. The publication cites "individuals familiar with the project" as source of the information.

Paramount is yet to corroborate the casting news but Carmichael is said to be in talks with Paramount Pictures to join Mark Wahlberg (who will reprise his role as inventor mechanic Cad Yeager) in the upcoming "Transformers" film.

Carmichael currently appears in his show "The Carmichael Show." Before he suits up for "Transformers 5," fans can check him out in a couple of films including the "The Masterpiece" with James Franco and "The Meddler" with Susan Sarandon and Rose Byrne.

With the lack of concrete information regarding Carmichael's involvement in "Transformers 5," the actor's role in the robot-packed movie becomes a bigger mystery.

Just last week, it was rumored Nickelodeon star Isabel Moner snagged the female lead role for "Transformers 5." The young actress will allegedly play the role of a street-smart tomboy named Izabella, an orphan who has a small robot as her only friend.

"Transformers 5" will be the last film in the franchise Michael Bay will direct. Just recently, the filmmaker was scouting for filming locations in the UK in preparation for the production of the film next month.

"Transformers 5" will be the beginning of a cinematic universe being developed by Hasbro and Paramount. A spinoff featuring Bumblebee is in the works for a 2018 release while "Transformers 6" is already slated for a 2019 release.

Paramount and Hasbro are also teaming up to develop an onscreen universe featuring the brands "G.I. Joe," "Micronauts," "Visionaries," "MASK or Mobile Armored Strike Kommand" and "ROM" with Oscar winner Akiva Goldsman tasked to oversee the writers' room.

"Transformers 5" will hit the screen on June 23, 2017.
