There's massive expectation about the "Blood and Wine DLC" coming to "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" mainly because story writer Jakub Szamalek boasted that the expansion pack will be "even better than the game."
"Blood and Wine" is so huge that it can pass off as a standalone game but that doesn't make it superior to the original. This is something that developer CD Projekt Red marketing lead Michal Platkow-Gilewski wanted clarified.
"'Blood and Wine' is the sum of all the experiences we gained when creating 'Wild Hunt,' so it's definitely more refined than 'Wild Hunt' in many regards, but that doesn't mean it's better per se," he explained about the massive "The Witcher 3" DLC in a Gamespot interview.
The expansion pack is comparable to "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" itself in terms of the scale of the new realm called Toussaint, which apparently challenges the size of the whole game. Previously, CD Projekt Red said "Blood and Wine" is almost as big as "The Witcher 2."
Despite all this, Platkow-Gilewski still does not agree with the idea that it is better than the game. "The base game with the expansions is simply better than without them," the marketing lead elucidated.
He won't pinpoint "what's better separately" but he did promise that whatever it s contained in the update should "[enrich] the overall experience you get from 'The Witcher' as a game in general."
While CD Projekt Red did not specify a release date for "Blood and Wine," "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" DLC was scheduled to be out in the first quarter of the year. However, it is now slated to be available within the first half of 2016, which could entail three more months of waiting.
"Blood and Wine" will take players in a new realm, which is unblemished by war but laden with a dark, bloody secret Geralt of Rivia will uncover as he gets through new breeds of monsters and enemies there.
