'The Winds of Winter' release rumors: Novel unlikely to arrive before "Game of Thrones" season 7

After "The Winds of Winter" failed to arrive ahead of HBO's "Game of Thrones" season 6 last year, the latest reports suggest that history may repeat itself this year as the highly-anticipated novel of George R.R. Martin may not arrive in time for the airing of "Game of Thrones" season 7.

Beyond the shadow of doubt, many bookworms and "Game of Thrones" fans have grown more impatient over the long delay of "The Winds of Winter." As the HBO series is based on the series of novels of Martin, "A Song of Ice and Fire," and the sixth book in the series should have been basis for its sixth season, many were disappointed that the book did not arrive last year. Instead, "Game of Thrones" season 6 featured a finale episode titled "The Winds of Winter."

As "Game of Thrones" season 7 (which should be based on the seventh book of the "A Song of Ice and Fire," the likewise upcoming "A Dream of Spring") inches closer to its July release, there is still no word whether Martin can release "The Winds of Winter" in time for the arrival of the HBO series. In fact, according to reports, it is next to impossible for Martin to release the book.

It has been learned that the editing of Martin's books takes around six months before it enters the process of publishing, which, on the other hand, takes three months to complete the earliest. However, the month of April is already tapering toward its end, but there is still no news whether the author has already finished writing the novel.

Meanwhile, it is said that, since "Game of Thrones" has already revealed some of the things that RR Martin wrote, it is likely for him to give "The Winds of Winter" some interesting plot twists that will set it apart from the HBO series. This, alone, is said to be a one good reason why it is still worth the wait despite its long delay.
