'The Voice' coaches engage in a word war to win over contestants €” even before the show premieres

The celebrity coaches from season 14 of "The Voice" are prepped up and ready to battle it out in order to lure the newest batch of hopefuls onto their respective teams. If the latest pronouncements made by the coaches are any indication, they are set to pin each other down by bringing up each other's flaws, all for the sake of getting the best contestants on their side.

Country superstar Blake Shelton and pop heartthrob Adam Levine are still holding on to their seats as longtime coaches. However, this season finds them challenged by two competitive and diverse female coaches like season 12 winning coach and R&B superstar Alicia Keys and the first "American Idol" champion, Kelly Clarkson.

With Shelton's record number of six season wins, he seems entirely confident that he can emerge as the winner yet again, a presumption which friend and erstwhile nemesis Levine is all the more ready to contest. In the show's recent teaser trailer, the pop-rock singer even goes so far as to say that the difference between him and Shelton is, "I am not Blake Shelton. I own more than one shirt. I can't say the same for Captain Country."

Keys is confident that her past win gives her an edge over the others, plus the fact that she knows how to bring out the contestant's most "genuine" performances. Clarkson, on the other hand, boasts of her championship on the same singing contest platform and attests that this fact is what stands in the way of the other judges' chances of winning.

Show fans are getting in on the action by responding to a poll on the show's Twitter account, which pits the coaches against each other as to who will get blocked first once the show airs. It won't be long until viewers get to see the actual battles on the screen as NBC's "The Voice" premieres on Feb. 26 at 8 p.m. EST.
