'The Vampire Diaries' season 7 finale spoilers: Damon stops at nothing to save Bonnie

Damon (Ian Somerhalder) has a big price to pay in order to save his dearest friends in the seventh season finale of 'The Vampire Diaries.' The CW

A spine-chilling finale awaits fans until Friday as Damon's (Ian Somerhalder) life is put on the line in the upcoming episode of "The Vampire Diaries" season 7.

Damon, Caroline (Candice King) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) will do everything that they can to help their friend Bonnie (Kat Graham) fight the curse that turned her into a ruthless vampire huntress in the finale episode, titled "Gods & Monsters." But it seems like Damon will have a bigger price to pay to save their friend.

According to the synopsis for the upcoming episode, Enzo will try to keep Bonnie's thoughts away from her urges to kill vampires by bringing her back to the cabin where they fell in love. But it seems like his plans will go awry, which will lead Damon to make a big sacrifice.

Bonnie's present predicament puts the lives of her friends in danger. But the actress who portrays the role told TVLine that she did not just turn into a bad person.

"I've always felt that Bonnie was a hero, and what could be seen as an antihero, to a lot of characters on the show," Graham said. "She is never lukewarm, and whenever she is placed in the middle, I've always found discomfort in justifying her decisions for that."

But could Damon's sacrifice mean that he has to give up his life in order to save all his closest friends?

The official synopsis for the finale episode reads:

"Despite their best efforts to help Bonnie through the harrowing predicament she now faces, Damon, Enzo and Caroline realize their options are running out and drastic measures need to be taken. With their only chance of saving their friend lying inside the Armory, Stefan breaks the news to Caroline that they may need help from an unlikely source – her and Alaric's twin daughters. Elsewhere, Enzo keeps Bonnie preoccupied by bringing her back to their cabin but when his plan takes an unexpected turn, it'll be up to Damon to make the ultimate sacrifice to save his closest friends."

The finale episode of "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 airs on Friday, May 13, on The CW.
