'The Vampire Diaries' season 7 premiere: trailer shows Damon fresh out of shower

In a new trailer for "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 posted by lead star Ian Somerhalder on Instagram, Damon Salvatore is seen getting naked in front of Alaric Saltzman (Matt Davis).

This is not the first time that Damon will be seen wearing nothing but towel. This is, however, the first time that he will be stripping without his ladylove Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev).

But Damon's chiseled body is not the only thing that makes the trailer scorching hot. In the first seconds of the video, his younger brother Stefan (Paul Wesley) is seen kissing Caroline Forbes (Candice Accola-King).

Fans of the series have been waiting for the longest time for Stefan and Caroline to finally begin their relationship. Even Damon seemed excited for the new development in his brother's love life, asking him if he and "Care Bear" are already "a thing now."

Meanwhile, fans of the series are still heartbroken after Dobrev decided not to return to the supernatural horror fantasy drama after its sixth season. But Wesley told TV Insider that her character will still be a vital part of the story.

"Elena's still a very big part of the story," Wesley teased. "Her body's in danger in the first few episodes, and Damon is doing everything he can to make sure it stays safe if and when she wakes up. We all had imagined this complete reboot where Elena was gone, but she's talked about so much!"

At the end of season 6, Elena was cursed by Kai (Chris Wood) to be in deep slumber and could only be awaken once Bonnie (Kat Graham) dies.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 premieres on Thursday, Oct. 8, on The CW.
