Electronic Arts' (EA) interactive life simulation video game "The Sims" has become very popular among players that it has spawned four major installments since the first title was released in 2000. As the success of the game franchise continues with "The Sims 4," there are speculations that EA is planning to release a fifth title within the next few years. Although, the fans should be a little more patient as "The Sims 5" is not likely to arrive until 2020.

It was tipped that EA is about to drop "The Sims 5" as early as next year. It appears that 2019 would be the right time to introduce a new title in "The Sims" series, considering that the past three titles took around four to five years before being replaced by their successors. However, there are no hints that the game developer is currently working on "The Sims 5" at the moment. For one, EA is still focused on creating additional contents for "The Sims 4" via expansion and stuff packs.

If EA is going to launch "The Sims 5" next year, the studio should have already teased about it this year. Also, it seems unlikely that EA would be working on both DLC packs for "The Sims 4" and a brand new "Sims" title. EA is expected to give its full attention to "The Sims 5," if the game is already under development. With this, a 2020 release date sounds like a best estimate.

For now, more content packs are being developed for "The Sims 4," with the recent rumors suggesting that the "Seasons" DLC is coming up soon. A screenshot of a fan's conversation with an EA customer service shows that the next expansion pack for "The Sims 4" is just around the corner, which involves the Sims experiencing the summer, autumn, winter, and spring.

The most recent content pack for "The Sims 4" is called "My First Pet Stuff," which is now subjected to the fans' criticisms for being a "DLC for DLC" set. Apparently, only those who have already purchased the "Cats and Dogs" expansion pack can enjoy all the features of "My First Pet Stuff." Without the former, the players will not be able to access most interactions included in the latest content pack.
