'The Sims 4' PS4 release date news: Game skipping Gamescom; Console release not planned

A look at "The Sims 4" Backyard Stuff DLC EA/Maxis

Unfortunately, "The Sims 4" won't be featured at Gamescom 2016. Electronic Arts is not expected to be at the event at all. This was announced by "The Sims" global community manager Amanda Drake with a post on the game's forums.

"We will not be making any announcements at Gamescom this year and will not be on the show floor," she wrote. However, "The Sims" will be featured at the event to some extent.

This will be through a closed panel and Question and Answer session with Sim gurus Rachel Franklin and Lyndsay Pearson, who will be there to answers questions "about the Sims Franchise."

"If you're going to be at Gamescom let us know! We'd love to meet you," the community manager went on to say. On Twitter, she once again clarified that no updates specific to "The Sims 4" will be shared there.

"There won't be any announcements at Gamescom. This is just a community focused initiative that I'm running," she tweeted out.

"The Sims 4" was featured at last year's Gamescom, where EA showed off some of the gameplay of the current iteration of the mega-popular life simulation game.

However, with a new stuff pack just released and fans all caught up about updates EA has for the game, it looks like the publisher has nothing much to share on "The Sims 4" at this year's convention.

Some were disappointed that "The Sims 4" got no shoutout at the EA Play last month. Just recently, it was also confirmed that a console release is not planned.

EA seems to be focused on releasing game packs and stuff packs for the game to expand it. The latest downloadable content – Backyard Stuff – was released last month and it is unclear when the next one drops.

For now, gamers can check out the addicting Let's Plays series for "The Sims 4" Dine Out DLC.
