A character from "The Vampire Diaries" delivers hopeful news for the family in the upcoming episode of "The Originals" season 4.

Titled "Voodoo in My Blood," this week's episode will see Alaric (guest star Matt Davis) meet up with Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Marcel (Charles Michael Davis). According to the official synopsis, old wounds are reopened when Marcel and Elijah are forced to become allies. Together, they must come up with a new plan to take down The Hollow. Alaric meets up with them and reveals he has tracked down a crucial artifact that could significantly help in their fight against The Hollow.

Meanwhile, Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) and Klaus (Joseph Morgan) are summoned by the ancestors. They head to the ancestral world together, where they will come face-to-face with Davina (guest star Danielle Campbell). Aside from being Klaus' former enemy, she is the sole person who holds the key to The Hollow's death.

The CW released a first look photo of Alaric's arrival, and it appears Hayley and Hope will be part of his welcoming committee. "The Vampire Diaries" showrunner and creator Julie Plec confirmed to TV Line that Alaric's appearance on the show coincides with the timeline of the 2009 vampire drama's final season.

"In fact, Alaric is the one who shows up and actually tells Klaus about the school," Plec stated. "The idea of the school as a safe haven for young supernatural beings certainly has a lot of relevance for Hope Mikaelson."

As "The Vampire Diaries" fans can recall, the show ended with Caroline (Candice King) taking ownership of the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young & Gifted after her husband's death. Reports suggest that Hope might be enrolled in the said boarding school once it is established. There is also a good chance that "The Originals" will be the new home for the remaining "The Vampire Diaries" characters who survived the series finale.

The fourth season of "The Originals" airs every Friday at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
