Is "The Mentalist" filming its farewell season?
Last Sept. 14, Tim Kang, who plays the role of Kimball Cho in the hit TV series, shared an announcement via his Twitter account, which reads: "This is our 7th and final season. Looking at the scripts now, it's so fun and such a great season!"
The police procedural drama had been airing on CBS since 2008, and the 13-episode seventh season will also be its final one.
Enstarz reported that the series had begun filming the new episodes, and the alleged pilot episode will be dubbed as "Green Light."
Fans will see if Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) and Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tunney) will finally do something about their budding romance, after Patrick finally confessed his feelings for Teresa before she boarded the plane to Washington.
The agents will also have to work together to run after an arms dealer somewhere in Beirut.
Meanwhile, series creator Bruno Heller shared a few details to Hollywood Reporter.
He said, "The pleasures of the show rests in the byplay between Robin [Tunney] and Simon [Baker]. Getting rid of Red John allowed us to focus on that human aspect of the show. Red John, as it turns out, was a convenience for Jane because it meant Jane and he didn't have to confront the rest of his life and what he's doing."
"This is a popular show. It's meant for the people. We have tried to make a finale to the season that will please and engage and fill our core audience," the showrunner added.
In addition, a new woman will reportedly enter Patrick's life, professionally. This is pointed out by TV Line, which teased that a new FBI agent will join the cast this season.
Will this signify a possible romance for Cho before the series concludes?
The Mentalist Season 7 will air on CBS Network beginning January 2015.
