The seventh and final season of "The Mentalist" is far from over, yet things are starting to heat up as early as the fourth episode.

Back in episode 3, Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) and Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tunney) headed over to Beirut to go after Erica Flynn (guest star Morena Baccarin) to pin down her terrorist lover in exchange for her immunity. Jane almost drowned when he tried to become the new messenger of the terrorist group. When he finally got in, he needed to remember a random series of 81 numbers then repeat them verbally to a person located in Atlanta.

Meanwhile, Erica tried once again to escape after the terrorist was captured, but Jane and Lisbon were quick on their feet and successfully stopped her from escaping again. The partners/lovers then returned to the U.S.

In the next episode, which is titled "Black Market," Jane will have to help solve a case from afar after contracting a disease. He may be down physically but his mental health is still at its prime, making him capable of working on the case.

The official synopsis of "The Mentalist" season 7 episode 4 reads: "The team investigates a murder linked to a counterfeit diamond operation, but an illness forces Jane to direct his colleagues from the office as he recuperates. Meanwhile, Abbott is concerned that transgressions in his past could harm his wife's chance to obtain a prestigious job in Washington, D.C."

Could this mean that the FBI leader Abbot (Rockmond Dunbar) is considering leaving his post in the Austin office to be able to join his wife in D.C?

The upcoming episode of "The Mentalist" season 7 features guest stars like William Abadirq (Jacques), Devon Barned (Wren), Will Green (Kirk), Christine Adams (Lena), Courtney James Clark (Dixie), Leonard Roberts (Elon), Nicole Shaloube (Lupe), and Jeff Branson (Walker), among others.

"The Mentalist" season 7 episode 4 is scheduled to air on Sunday, Dec. 21, at 8:30 p.m.
