Acclaimed game creator Naughty Dog left fans with a couple of hints at what is in store for the next installation of the critically-applauded survival-adventure game "The Last of Us": a new story arc, a 2019 launch date, and much more.

At the 2016 PlayStation Experience, Sony officially announced the sequel to the much fancied action-horror game "The Last of Us."

The PlayStation originator spilled the beans on the new story, noting that it will take place five years after the conclusion of the first game.

At the PlayStation Experience 2017, creative director Neil Druckman revealed that the setting for most part of the new installation will take place largely in Seattle.

GamesRadar argues that even though this is for the "large part," it seems highly likely that the events in the game will remain rooted in the Pacific Northwest.

Sony disclosed that Ellie will be the star of the new chapter, with Joel occasionally making appearances in-game. Judging by how the now 19-year-old girl seemed angrier and more explosive than her former self in the initial trailer, the story's focal point will likely be along the lines of revenge.

Naughty Dog has made it known that the "Last of Us 2" is still in its early development and a plausible window release date has not been announced or confirmed yet.

Radio Vorterix's interview with Gustavo Santaolalla, composer for the much-anticipated game, counters this previous statement. Santaolalla admitted that the game will be due in 2019 and will be a PlayStation 4 exclusive.

Sony has yet to make any confirmation or statements regarding this information.

Debuting at the Paris Games Week 2017, the new trailer for the "The Last of Us 2" features a grittier and much more brutal gameplay than before.

Seeing as improvements and enhancements have been applied game-wise, the new post-apocalyptic game will probably take advantage of PlayStation 4's new architecture pushing the boundaries of gameplay.
