More exciting characters are coming to "The Flash" season 3 as Barry Allen's (Grant Gustin) story continues. One of these will be Caitlin's (Danielle Panabaker) mom.

This is what Andrew Kreisberg, one of the executive producers of the successful DC Comics television series, teased in an interview with Entertainment Weekly (via Melty).

"We haven't met Caitlin's mother yet, so we got a little talk between the two women, which is something that will probably play out in season 3," the EP said.

It is unclear what the arrival of Caitlin's mother will mean in "The Flash" season 3, but it is expected that it will probably have something to do with Killer Frost.

Caitlin has mentioned her mother in the series in season 2 when she was speaking with her evil Earth-2 doppelganger. It seemed like they weren't in the best of terms so "The Flash" season 3 may be setting up a non-so cordial reunion.

At the moment, there's no information as to who will play the role. "The Flash" is currently in the middle of casting characters. The show is actually looking for an actor that will play a role detrimental to Barry's character.

According to TV Line's Michael Ausiello, the CW is in search of "Barry's slightly older, slightly geekier contemporary, a guy who is as smart as he is intuitive."

"As such, this newcomer doesn't buy Barry's nice guy routine and sets out to learn what he's hiding — all while concealing some secrets of his own," Ausiello wrote.

"The Flash" season 3 will deal with the aftermath of Barry's decision to save his mother, altering the present, "Flashpoint"-style. It is speculated that his actions will prove destructive to the whole world, urging him to once again allow his mother to be killed.

"The Flash" season 3 is expected to premiere this fall on the CW.
