"The Crown," a Netflix original series which portrayed the life of Queen Elizabeth II is returning to Netflix on Dec. 8 for its second season. Moreover, most of the characters from the first season is confirmed to return as well.
The first season took place during the earlier days of Queen Elizabeth's reign. However, season two of "The Crown" will feature a time jump. It will cover the events from the Suez Crisis and onwards. According to a report from Metro, the second season will take a darker turn.
The official trailer for season two was uploaded to Netflix's YouTube account last Nov. 6. The trailer began with narration. The voiceover mentioned the world, England, the British society, and how it has changed. The scenes moved to the returning characters and the possible problems that they would have to deal with.
The changing of the times and political beliefs of the people have threatened the monarchy and made it fragile. That being said, the next season of "The Crown" will reveal the struggles of the royal family as they aim at preventing a scandal that could ruin the noble clan. It appears that things would fall apart and emotions would run high for the main characters of the series.
The official description from Netflix's YouTube channel emphasizes some of the things the trailer has attempted to portray. "With the world undergoing great changes, a damaged British monarchy must confront its past to have a future."
Season two begins around the time of the Suez Canal crisis. It will end around the time of Queen Elizabeth II's retirement.
According to Express UK, season two will have 10 episodes, and it will be the last season to feature Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth II. In the upcoming third season, Claire Foy will be replaced by Olivia Colman. The veteran actress Colman will take on the role as the older Queen Elizabeth II for the third and fourth season.
