'The Big Bang Theory' season 10 spoilers: will the hook-up between Alfred and Mary go further?

Is there a blossoming romance between Alfred and Mary? CBS

The unlikely pairing of Leonard's father Alfred (Judd Hirsch) and Sheldon's mother Mary (Laurie Metcalf) shocked fans during the season 9 finale of "The Big Bang Theory." But it seems like the blossoming romance between the two will continue when the series returns for season 10.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Steve Molaro teased that the show will immediately pick up where it left off in season 9. It means that the viewers will find out what exactly happened when Alfred and Mary decided to turn off their phones while having a nightcap in the hotel.

But Molaro admitted that he is still unsure if Leonard's dad and Sheldon's mom actually hooked up.

"I know they were getting along quite well, and left to go to the same hotel for a nightcap, and turned off their phones," the showrunner told Entertainment Weekly.

Molaro also revealed their plans for the upcoming season, which will be the continuation of the stories in season 9.

"We have all these family members that are there and hopefully more to meet for the first time. We can continue with this guidance system and see where that goes professionally, personally and financially," the showrunner told THR. "There's a baby on the way [for Howard and Bernadette], Penny is unhappy with her career. There are a lot of pieces already in play that for now, we just want to continue with."

Molaro also discussed the future of the show after season 10, since the contracts of the cast will be over by that time. He said that he is not one to think that the upcoming season will be the last one for the show because he wants to take it one episode at a time.

"The Big Bang Theory" season 10 is expected to premiere this fall on CBS.
