The long wait for the third season of FX's hit espionage period drama "The Americans" will finally be over, as the first episode for the upcoming season airs on Wednesday.

The official synopsis for the season premiere titled "EST Men" reads:

"Tensions simmer between Philip (Matthew Rhys) and Elizabeth (Keri Russel) as they disagree over handling orders from the Centre. When Elizabeth loses key intel, Philip enlists Annelise on a mission with an unexpected outcome. Stan (Noah Emmerich) tries a new approach to mending his marriage with Sandra (Susan Misner) amidst learning tough news about Nina (Annet Mahendru)."

This means that season 3 will start with the same dilemma that was tackled toward the end of season 2, which is the argument between the Jennings couple on whether or not they would inform their daughter Paige (Holly Taylor) regarding the truth about her lineage.

Until now, Elizabeth feels rejected whenever Philip dismisses the idea of admitting their real identity to their daughter. With all the drama behind their family and staged marital life, can the Jennings couple still concentrate on their tasks and keep the American government from finding out about their real identities?

Meanwhile, E! News recently spilled some details about the alleged involvement of Philip with an underage girl. According to the spoilers, the alleged relationship will make the viewers feel uncomfortable when watching the scenes that will reportedly air starting the fourth episode of the season.

"It was a subject that concerned me," the actor said. "We talked it out. It's with the beauty of the conflict of where this series lies. It's incredibly interesting to watch and play. With this mandate, he's presented with a mission that is incredibly conflicting to him as a father and a human being, but it serves a greater purpose."

"The Americans" season 3 will start airing on Jan. 28 on the FX channel.
