The Soviet spies will be finally back on TV when "The Americans" return for season 4.

FX officially announced that Philip (Matthew Rhys) and Elizabeth (Keri Russell) Jennings will resume their roles as KGB agents in the fourth season of FX's period spy drama in March. Will the authorities finally blow their cover this season?

During the Television Critics Association's winter press tour on Saturday, executive producer Joel Fields revealed that there are lots of things happening in "The Americans" season 4.

"A lot of the ticking time bombs that were set in season 1 even are going to either have to be diffused or they're going to go off," Fields revealed.

The executive producer is perhaps referring to the possible repercussion of the couple's daughter Paige's (Holly Taylor) decision to tell her pastor that her parents are actually Russians after they came clean about their true identity.

"The game has certainly shifted in terms of parenting Paige," Fields revealed. "The question of focusing on her recruitment is secondary to how to manage this family's survival."

Russell agreed that the upcoming season will be more emotional than the past three seasons.

"There is a big opening for Elizabeth in a new way, especially with Paige and seeing how it's affecting her ... Between Paige's fractures and Philip's fractures, there is a bigger sensitivity to the fragility of her family this season," the actress added.

The fourth season of "The Americans" will also deal with another grave threat brought on by the use of bio-weapons during the events that will happen in 1983. According to the executive producer, the Jennings know the large-scale danger of using the bio-weapons.

Fields also addressed the possibility of the show to extend beyond season 4, saying, "We don't have the answer, but we'll do what's right for storytelling. We often surprise ourselves through the progress of the story."

"The Americans" season 4 premieres on FX on March 16.
