The highly-anticipated "Tekken X Street Fighter" crossover game is still in progress, although game publisher Bandai Namco is still unsure about its release date. This is contrary to rumors that the game has been shelved.

Bandai Namco's Katsuhiro Harada denied all the rumors that the planned crossover fighting game of two of the best-selling fight titles had been scrapped. In a recent interview with Famitsu that was translated by Siliconera, Harada clarified that they are still pushing through with the development of the crossover title.

"That's not true! I've been saying this since before, but the fact of the matter is that we're at a pretty far stage into its development," the game producer said.

While Harada's time was recently consumed with other Bandai Namco projects like the recently released "Tekken 7," the VR project for Project 4's Project Morpheus dubbed as "Summer Lesson," as well as the upcoming arcade fighting game called "Pokken Tournament" in collaboration with The Pokemon Company, the Japanese game producer still said that "Tekken X Street Fighter" is still being taken care of.

"It might seem like we haven't started on it at all, but the character lineup has been decided upon since a very long time ago, and we've already finished the polygon models, moves, and systems," the seasoned game designer/ director/ producer stated.

"Tekken X Street Fighter" was first announced by Harada during the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con, saying that the crossover universe of Bandai Namco's Tekken and Capcom's Street Fighter will have the same 3d fighting game engine that the Tekken franchise normally uses, unlike the 2D fighting gameplay that was featured in "Street Fighter X Tekken" crossover game that was released by Capcom in 2012.

Updates about the planned game became scarce after that, but Harada reminded the attendees of the 2014 Comic-Con that the game is still being developed, and Bandai Namco is just waiting for the opportunity to market the game.

Harada still cannot confirm the exact release date of the game, but there are speculations that it might be ready by 2016.
