'Tekken 7' PS4 release date: New mode attacks, gameplay mechanics detailed

"Tekken 7" will get major upgrades when it hits the PS4. Bandai Namco Entertainment

"Tekken 7" is going to get tons of features when it heads to the PlayStation 4. These additions were explained by game director and chief producer Katsuhiro Harada.

For starters, the game will boast interactive cutscenes that include dynamic weather and destructible environments.

"Tekken 7" also slips into a fitting slow-motion setting when a player is one blow away from being knocked out. The scene with the finishing move will be dramatized.

Harada says that this tweak on "Tekken 7" PS4 is mainly to make the game fun both when played and when not played.

In "Tekken 7" PS4, the Rage mode attacks come in two ways. One is determined as Rage Drives, which basically boosts the damage and the other is the "lifesaver" of a move called Rage Art, which is all about making that perfect finishing move.

According to Harada, some Rage Drives are "more defensive than others" and can be utilized "in high, mid, and low ranges."

As for the Rage Art, Harada warned that "You can deliver massive damage, but only in proportion to how low your health is."

Apart from the expanded Rage mode attacks, "Tekken 7" PS4 is also bringing in an exciting new move called the Power Crush, which allows players to finish a move even after taking damage.

This move is so powerful it can turn a losing battle for a player upside down, but Harada strongly recommends "skilled" players to take advantage of it smartly.

He warns that the Power Crush won't always protect them, especially with low attacks of throws. That being said, "Tekken 7" PS4 players should know when to strike.

In "Tekken 7" PS4, Akuma from "Street Fighter" will be the key to conclude the tale of the Mishima clan and their never-ending bad blood.

"Tekken 7" will be released to the PS4 as well as the Xbox One and PC early next year.
