"Switched at Birth" season 5 will premiere on Tuesday, Jan. 24, officially marking the beginning of the end of Daphne (Katie Leclerc) and Bay's (Vanessa Marano) heart-warming story that captured the hearts of many.

Creator Lizzy Weiss made the announcement on Twitter. She even made the news sweeter by sharing a photo of the cast and crew during their celebration of their 100th episode.

Fans were heartbroken to learn that "Switched at Birth" season 5 will be the show's last. Making it tougher is the fact that they have to endure almost a year and a half drought. The season 4 finale aired October last year.

Production for "Switched at Birth" season 5 wrapped up early this year. Bay teased in an interview with Just Jared that the final seasons will feature returning storylines and cap them off.

"We left a lot of loose ends open last season so now we're tying everything together," the actress said. However, she also teased something new to look forward to in "Switched at Birth" season 5.

Speaking about Bay and Daphne's life in China, she said "It's very much like a new year because so much time has passed and the girls are at these new places in their lives."

Of course, they will have to take a break from their new lives as they are needed back home. In the final moments of season 4, the two received a distressed call from someone urging them to return home.

In "Switched at Birth" season 5, the identity of the person at the end of the line will be revealed. It is rumored that the call was about Bay and Daphne's parents on the verge of getting a divorce.

Also, "Switched at Birth" season 5 will certainly go down television history with one episode set to put the spotlight on racism that happens on the school campus.
