A future episode of "Switched at Birth" season 5 will tackle racism that happens inside college campuses. Series creator Lizzy Weiss admits that the episode was extremely challenging to put together. In fact, even coming up with a title for the episode proved difficult.

The installment ended up being titled "Occupy Truth." Explaining the thought behind it, she posted on Twitter along with the cover page of the script's episode that "this title had to strike the right tone [and] be by a black artist," who ended up being Miles Regis.

The "Switched at Birth" season 5 episode is about a white college student attending the show's version of University of Missouri-Kansas City who dressed as black rapper Lil Wayne for a party. The African-Americans in attendance believe that he is being a racist.

The highly anticipated "Switched at Birth" season 5 installment will be told from the perspective of the black characters but Weiss emphasized in an Associated Press interview that they are "really trying to be accurate and honest about both sides of the debate."

This means that the white student's stand, which is mainly about him only trying to celebrate his favorite rapper rather than mocking him and the black students, will also be heard. But as what has been said, the African-Americans will be leading the story.

Weiss believes that this "Switched at Birth" season 5 arc is a reflection of real events that happen to real people, in this case, black students. The drama has always been known for that aspect, having aired episodes about Down Syndrome pregnancy and American Sign Language.

The "Switched at Birth" creator also believes that racial tension on campuses is very fitting for the show for its setting and the fact that it follows people who feel like "outsiders," which Weiss said is what the program has always been about.

"Switched at Birth" season 5 is expected to premiere in April with an episode called "The Call." Here, Daphne and Bay could be moving out of China and back to their hometown for an emergency.
