The CW's hit television series "Supernatural" have been featuring the return of fan-favorite characters in the past few episodes. Recently, the viewers were surprised to see Archangel Gabriel (Richard Speight Jr.) alive and well after many years of being thought as dead. In the upcoming ninteenth episode of season 13, two of the charismatic villains in the show's history will make a comeback.
According to the official synopsis for "Supernatural" season 13 episode 19, titled "Funeralia," the evil witch Rowena (Ruth Connell) will pay a visit to the Winchester brothers. However, Rowena is not expected to cause trouble in Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean's (Jensen Ackles) lives this time around, as she is now only concerned about putting an end to her long-standing conflict with Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino).
The promo teaser hints that Rowena is going on a "deadly mission" that involves Lucifer, and this can be used by the Winchesters to defeat a common enemy. Instead of fighting each other, the brothers might be working alongside Rowena, although they must be wary of the evil witch's true intention, given the reputation that precedes the villain.
Aside from Rowena, it has been confirmed that "Supernatural" season 13 episode 19 will also bring back Death. The character, which will now be portrayed by guest star Lisa Berry, is not expected to antagonize the Winchesters. In fact, Death helped Dean return to Sam, carrying an important message that could save the world. However, Death's return on the same day as Rowena's is quite suspicious, and it is rumored that the two might actually have formed an alliance for reasons that are still unknown.
Whatever reason Death and Rowena have for returning, the Winchester brothers will be taking every opportunity to accomplish their own mission, which is to open a rift to the apocalypse world, wherein Mary (Samantha Smith) and Jack (Alexander Calvert) are currently trapped. Sam and Dean needs an archangel's grace, which is the last requirement to open the portal to the apocalypse dimension, and the only way to obtain this is to defeat Lucifer himself.
Supernatural season 13 episode 18 will air this Thursday, April 19 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
