'Suits' season 6 spoilers, plot news: New season to center on Mike's 'new environment'

Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) owned up to his mistakes to save the entire Pearson, Specter, Litt law office in the final episode of "Suits" season 5. But how will his two-year imprisonment affect Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) and the rest of the firm when the series returns for season 6?

During the fifth season finale, Mike unexpectedly entered a guilty plea for fraud. But the viewers found out that the jury was willing to acquit him from his crime after he made the plea.

The cast and crew of the legal drama series talked about what fans should expect in season 6, especially about how Mike will deal with his new situation behind bars.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, creator and showrunner Aaron Korsh revealed that season 6 will begin exactly where they left off during the night of Mike's guilty plea.

Korsh explained that they are expected to do a time jump, but they want to emphasize the repercussions of the events that happened at the end of season 5, that is why they opted to start exactly where they ended.

"The entire episode as is currently contemplated takes place with Mike's first night in prison and the first night back at the firm when they've come back and it's empty," the showrunner said.

Korsh also said that the upcoming season of "Suits" will be about moving forward. He said that they want to showcase how Mike will handle his life in in a different environment and how it will affect his relationships outside prison. He also teased what will happen to Harvey, Rachel Zane (Meghan Markle), Donna Paulsen (Sarah Rafferty), Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres), and Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman).

"What happens when the two pillars of their existence — Mike and the firm — have been knocked out? Will they regroup and band together and overcome, or are they going to go their separate ways? Basically, how will they respond to this gut punch that's ripped them apart," Korsh revealed.

Meanwhile, Adams told Zap2it that they will begin filming "Suits" season 6 on April 5. However, the actor still has no idea if Mike and Rachel will survive the latest setback in their relationship even if he believes that the couple already got what it takes surpass it.

USA Network has yet to reveal when "Suits" season 6 premieres.
