Mike Ross' (Patrick J. Adams) fate was put in limbo during the midseason finale of "Suits" season 5, which is why fans of the USA Network's legal drama are eager to find out the effects of Mike's arrest when the show returns early next year.

Toward the end of the episode titled "Faith," Mike already submitted his letter of resignation as a legal counsel with the Pearson Spencer Litt to start his new life with Rachel (Meghan Markle). However, somebody told the police about his biggest, darkest secret, which led to his arrest.

But how can the recent chain of events affect the relationship dynamics when the show returns next season?

According to series creator Aaron Korsch, big twists are coming to the second half of "Suits" season 5. "Mike is on the hot seat, so is everybody else in the back six. Episode 511 is called 'Blowback' — that would be a good thematic title for the last six. I feel like this is a course-change for Suits," Korsch said in an interview posted on Yahoo! TV.

Korsch also revealed that he initially thought that "Suits" writers' pool will focus on the implications of Mike's arrest, but it turned out that they would like to center on who tipped the police about Mike's secret. However, they managed to combine both ideas in the second half of the series.

"So we'll ultimately answer how it happened, but it is not the end-all-be-all of the first few episodes back. We tried to come up with a good answer. [Laughs.] I hope people like it," Korsch stated.

Movie News Guide pointed out that there are only a handful of people who already knew that Mike is not actually a Harvard law school graduate. The list include Mike's ex-girlfriend Claire (Troian Bellisario), Father Sam Walker (Scott Michael Campbell), Rachel's ex-boyfriend Logan (Brendan Hines), Rachel's parents, and Donna (Sarah Rafferty).

But according to most speculations, Rachel's dad Robert Zane (Wendell Pierce) and mother Laura (Megan Gallagher) were the ones who arranged for Mike's arrest.

What is the implication of this when "Suits" season 5B returns in 2016?
