Mike Bithell, the developer and publisher of the text-based adventure game "Subsurface Circular," announced that he will release a Nintendo Switch version of the game on March 1.
The British video game designer and developer who is also known for his 2012 game "Thomas Was Alone" announced the news in a Twitter post on Feb. 15. He said: "Subsurface Circular. On Nintendo Switch. March 1st. Play it on an actual train."
In the game, players will assume the role of an android-like detective Tek (robot) in the subway system, serving under human masters, known as "management." The detective Tek will have to solve the cases of missing Teks. The detective Tek will be able to do so by conversing with other Teks while they are riding the subway and by solving puzzles to help other robots and at the same time, gather more information on the cases. The detective Tek will discover that the robot behind the missing is the mysterious Red Tek.
Red Tek will reveal that the reason why he was taking the robots is that he plans to kill the management — it wants to overturn the status quo and have Teks replace humans with low-level jobs, allowing them to pursue better jobs in the process. The game will end with Red Trek giving the detective Tek a weapon. The detective Tek will then have to choose between killing Red Tek (giving him sufficient time to report the upcoming uprising to the management, thereby, preserving the status quo) and killing itself (allowing the uprising the Teks planned to happen).
"Subsurface Circular" was released for Windows in August 2017 and iOS devices later in October. According to the Switch eShop where players can avail the game, the text-based adventure game will retail at $5.99.
