'Stranger Things' Season 3 release date, cast & spoilers news 2018: 'Princess Bride' actor Carly Elwes cast as Hawkins politician

The latest scoop about the upcoming third season of Netflix's hit science fiction thriller "Stranger Things" features a bunch of actors joining the cast. For the past two seasons, the viewers have learned about the top secret science facility that raised hell in the quiet Midwestern town, but in season 3, the people running the government of Hawkins will be introduced.

According to the latest reports, "Stranger Things" season 3 will welcome more 80's icons like Winona Ryder to the cast. For one, Cary Elwes of "The Princess Bride" fame is set to take on the role of the mayor of Hawkins, Indiana. Deadline has reported that Elwes' character will be known as Mayor Kline, and so far, the available information only describes the character as a "handsome, slick and sleazy" 80's politician. It looks like the mayor has little concern on what is actually happening in his town, putting his obsession over his public image and reputation above anything else.

Another new character arriving in "Stranger Things" season 3 is a local journalist known as Bruce. The character, to be played by Jake Busey, may not be the best person to trust in Hawkins because of his questionable motives. Bruce is also described as a man with "a sick sense of humor."

Going into the younger generation of the "Stranger Things" season 3 cast, Uma Thurman's daughter, Maya Thurman-Hawke, is set to portray the role of a mysterious girl caught in the mystery and horror of Hawkins. The name of Thurman-Hawke's character is not yet specified, although it is said that the character will find more than what she wished for as she looks for a thrill in a boring town.

Fans will also need to watch out for Lucas Sinclair's (Caleb McLaughlin) sister as she is tipped to play a major role in the third season. Played by Priah Ferguson, Erica Sinclair will get her own adventure as she leads a group of sassy young girls to deal with a new threat in town.

"Stranger Things" season 3 will premiere sometime in 2019.
