Netflix has yet to renew the summer hit TV series "Stranger Things" for its second season, but the creators of the show already have a plan in case another season of the mystery sci-fi thriller will be ordered.

During the Television Critics Association panel, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos revealed in a statement, as reported by Indie Wire, that they are still considering a lot of things before they order a series renewal for "Stranger Things."

According to Sarandos, "We always want to take some time to be thoughtful about the (renewal) process."

But in case the streaming service provider chooses to bring back "Stranger Things" for season 2, brothers and series co-creators Matt and Ross Duffer said that they are planning to come up with a sequel instead of an actual second season.

"We don't answer all the questions by the end of the season — there are definitely some dangling threads," Matt said in an interview with IGN. "The hope is that it feels satisfying but that we left room and that if people respond to it we can go back into this world. But if we do get to go back, it's not a second season as much as a sequel."

However, Ross claimed in an interview with Collider that they are worried about the impact of extending the series longer than necessary.

"We're very weary of making it go on past the point it should. You want to end on a high note. That's the goal. We've had initial discussions, but we haven't quite landed on it," he said.

The first season of "Stranger Things" caught the attention of Netflix subscribers due to its exhilarating plot where a single mother named Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) became frantic when her 12-year-old son Will (Noah Schnapp) suddenly disappeared without a trace. But as she and police chief Jim Hopper (David Harbour) searched for the missing boy, they stumbled upon a lot of unexpected discoveries, including an evil government agency and a monster that could strike anytime.

The announcement for "Stranger Things" season 2 is expected to be announced anytime soon.
