Nostalgic farming game "Stardew Valley" is now officially getting a multiplayer mode, which is confirmed by primary game developer ConcernedApe in a new announcement.
The official announcement details the progress of the upcoming patch -- update 1.3. According to Eric Barone (ConcernedApe), the multiplayer mode has now been completed and will be included in the official launch of the said patch.
Barone explained that he is always worked alone on the role-playing simulation "Stardew Valley," but this time, he sought the help of Tom Coxon, from publisher Chucklefish, in order to accomplish the highly anticipated multiplayer feature.
He largely attributes the completion of the mode to Coxon -- who did all the network coding for the multiplayer setup.
In addition, Barone said that the feature is fully functional and, once the text has been fully translated to supported languages, quality assurance will follow -- which will involve both the single-player and the multiplayer mode.
This new multiplayer mode will allow players to interact with each other in-game. Players can start harvesting resources together, make goods or products alongside each other, and even get married.
Aside from this new multiplayer mode, the farming game will also host a new town event and various NPC events. In addition, different decorations and signs will also be awaiting players once the update launches officially.
After the QA testing, the game developer is planning a spring beta release.
Reports estimate the release of the beta patch to be between the dates of March 20 and June 21.
Users can expect additional information and other intimate details regarding the update to be announced as the beta release comes closer.
"Stardew Valley" is a role-playing farming game reminiscent of the "Harvest moon" game franchise made available on past Nintendo consoles. It made its first debut release in 2016 for Windows and currently has ports for the following platforms -- PlayStation 4, Xbox One, OS X, and Linux.
