After not hearing about the game for a long time, news finally surfaced about "Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3" — the game is coming to the next-gen gaming consoles and PC. Game developer CI Games made the announcement Tuesday, saying that they are now working hard to bring the game to the public in 2016.

"The Sniper: Ghost Warrior franchise is one of the most popular in the CI Games portfolio with over 5.5 million copies sold, so we're investing a significant amount of effort into the third installment," said CI Games head Marek Tyminski. "We're fully committed to creating a AAA franchise that gamers can rely on for the ultimate first-person sniper experience."

The third installment of the game aims to restore its lost glory, after the dismal reception to the 2013 "Sniper" sequel release.

According to the press release from the game developer, the new "Sniper" installment centers on the modern-day feud of three opposing groups in Eastern Europe. Players will take the role of a sniper who is unfortunately placed in the middle of the three conflicting factions. Just like in the earlier versions of the game, players can choose to defeat enemies using close-range melee attacks or by using their sniper weapons.

However, the studio is still mum about the release details of the third installment of the game, aside from the fact that it will come out in 2016.

The tactical video game was first released in PC and Xbox 360 editions back in 2010, while it was given a PlayStation 3 release in 2011. It was one of the most successful shooter games during that time.

The sequel of the game titled "Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2" was released in 2013 for Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC, but unlike the original release, the sequel received a lukewarm reception from players.

"Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3" will come out in PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions sometime in 2016.
