While "Shameless" is already slated to enter production next month for its eighth season run, the exact release date of the popular Showtime series remains unknown as of this writing.

Two days before the airing of the season 7 finale of "Shameless" last December, Emmy Rossum, who plays the role of Fiona Gallagher in the Showtime drama, tweeted how grateful she is for being a part of the series. In the same tweet, the actress also revealed that the cast and crew of "Shameless" will be returning for work this May.

As the month of April is tapering toward its end, it goes without saying that the cameras will soon begin grinding for "Shameless" season 8. However, at this point in time, fans are still left in the dark regarding the actual release date of the drama-comedy hybrid series.

Nonetheless, fans are happy that "Shameless" season 8 is happening. To recall, it was reported earlier that the fate of the series' upcoming season was put into jeopardy after Rossum demanded that her talent fee for the show be increased. Allegedly, the actress refused to continue working for another season unless she gets a raise that would equate her pay to that of William H. Macy, who plays the role of her father in the series, Frank Gallagher.

While the exact figures are unknown, reports claim that Rossum's pay is now on the same level with that of Macy. Some opine that it is a well-deserved talent fee increase for the actress as, after all, she has more screen time than Macy.

Meanwhile, although "Shameless" season 8 has yet to enter its production, there are already a lot of rumors and speculations attached to it, one of which claims that Rossum's Fiona character will have a love life again. While some believe that she will meet somebody new, rumors claim that one of her exes will return to woo her once more.

Nonetheless, this can only be confirmed when "Shameless" season 8 begins airing, who knows exactly when.
