"Shades of Blue" season 2 marks a major change in one of the show's characters. With Lolita Davidovich leaving the series, a new actress is brought in to play her character Linda Wozniak.

Come "Shades of Blue" season 2, "Independence Day" star Margaret Colin will now portray the role. According to TV Line, Davidovich had to quit the crime drama due to conflicts with her schedule.

Linda is the wife of Lieutenant Matt Wozniak (Ray Liotta) and is a recurring character in "Shades of Blue." They had a daughter who committed suicide at the age of 19.

Another actress making an entrance in "Shades of Blue" season 2 apart from Colin is "Breaking Bad" alum Anna Gunn, who will play the role of a former member of Harlee's (Jennifer Lopez) dirty crew of cops.

Formerly Matt's former protégée, Gunn's character has made a complete turnaround and is now a city councilwoman poised to win the mayoral office. The description for the "Shades of Blue" season 2 newcomer (via TV Line) is as follows:

She's a chameleon who rose up the ranks of the NYPD to Captain and then launched a political career fueled by her charisma and the fact that she is as comfortable at a blue-collar bar as she is at the Governor's mansion. As the season progresses, the details of her meteoric rise and her much darker and Machiavellian side comes to the fore.

It looks like the cast and crew of "Shades of Blue" are now back on set for season 2. Lopez recently shared on Instagram a photo of her wearing Harlee's signature curls, teasing that the character is back.

"Shades of Blue" season 2 is set to premiere early next year.
