'Sense8' season 2 spoilers: cast and crew head to San Francisco for filming

Sense8 Netflix

After being spotted filming at the Westerfeld House last week, Lana and Lilly Wachowski will move the cast and crew of Netflix's "Sense8" to San Francisco's Castro Theater to shoot some of the scenes for the show's season 2.

According to SFist, the sci-fi drama series is using at least three areas in San Francisco as the setting for several scenes in "Sense8" season 2. But this is not the first time that the series used the city as its backdrop, since Dolores Park and several other locations in the city were also featured in season 1.

The report also mentioned that because of the production, several streets around the vicinity close to Castro Theater will be posted with No Parking signs on Wednesday and Thursday, May 18 to 19.

The critically acclaimed series first gained popularity after Netflix released the series in June 2015. It centers on the interconnected story between eight strangers who are living in different locations all over the world. The strangers discovered that they are mentally and emotionally linked to each other when they all suddenly had a vision of the brutal killing of a woman named Angelica.

The series starsTuppence Middleton as DJ Riley Blue from Iceland, Brian J. Smith as police officer Will Gorski from Chicago, Max Riemelt as locksmith Wolfgang Bogdanow from Germany, Tina Desai as pharmacist Kala Dandekar from India, Miguel Ángel Silvestre as actor Lito Rodriguez from Spain, and Jamie Clayton as transgender hacktivist Nomi Marks from San Francisco.

Capheus, the matatu driver from Nairobi, was originally portrayed by Aml Ameen. But the actor is reportedly replaced by Toby Onwumere after Ameen was rumored to be fired from the set for saying homophobic remarks against co-star Clayton and Lana Wachowski.

"Sense8" season 2 is expected to be released by Netflix on Christmas Day.
