San Marcos fire map, road closures update: Evacuation ordered for 21,000 residents, Cal State campus

A total of nine fires are blazing through California today, one of which is the San Marcos fire, which has prompted new evacuation orders.

At least twenty homes have been destroyed as fires burn through San Diego County. A state of emergency has been declared for San Diego County.

Gusty winds and high temperatures of nearly 100 degrees continue as firefighters fight the blaze.

The Cocos Fire in San Marcos has burned through 900 acres so far, and has destroyed three structures.

Over 21,000 residents received evacuation orders late Wednesday night, including students at California State University campus, where 10,000 students were scheduled to take exams. The Legoland amusement park has also been closed due to a power outage.

Residents living south of San Marcos Boulevard have been issued mandatory evacuations. They include Lake San Marcos, Discovery Hills, Discovery Meadow, San Elijo Hills, Coronado Hills and Lake San Marcos.

Over 400 firefighters are currently fighting the fire, including eight helicopters that have been deployed by Gov. Jerry Brown.

South Twin Oaks Valley Road at Highway 78
Craven Road at Twin Oaks Valley Road
Village Drive at Twin Oaks Valley Road
San Elijo Road at Double Peak Road
Melrose Drive at Rancho Santa Fe Road
Melrose Drive at San Elijo Road
San Elijo Road at Rancho Santa Fe Road
Elfin Forest Road at Calistoga Way
Questhaven Road at City Limit
Coronado Hills Drive at Via Del Campo
Fallsview Road at San Elijo Road
Rancho Santa Fe Road was scheduled to reopen around 6 a.m.
