Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 release date, specs news: To feature 10.5-inch display with Snapdragon 835 chip, 4GB of RAM

Samsung has yet to confirm whether a next-generation Galaxy Tab S tablet will arrive soon, even as the Galaxy Tab S3 was released almost a year ago. It is believed that the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 is now overdue, and the device is expected to boast improved specs and features over its 2017 predecessor. However, a recent benchmark listing suggests that the Tab S4 may not boast the latest Qualcomm processor.

According to the latest GFXBench benchmark listing, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 will not use the current high-end chipset from Qualcomm. This is because the tablet was spotted with an Adreno 540 GPU, which is known to be paired with the Snapdragon 835 processor. The tablet is shown to pack with 4GB of RAM and 64 GB internal storage.  To compare with the Tab S3 specifications list, the upcoming tablet will retain the same RAM capacity, but will double on the amount of built-in storage space. However, the Tab S4 listing does not indicate if the tablet will feature a dedicated microSD card slot just like its predecessor.

Back in the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018, Samsung has presented the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 845 chip. This led everyone to believe that the future high-end gadgets from the South Korean tech giant, including the next-gen Galaxy Tab S, would receive the Snapdragon 845 processor. However, this may not be the right time yet for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 to use the 2018 Qualcomm chipset.

The Snapdragon 835 in the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 would still be a huge improvement, given that the Tab S3 uses the Snapdragon 820 chip. The Snapdragon 835 is also used by most of the flagship smartphones released in 2017, which will make the Tab S4 a powerful device. If ever, the Snapdragon 845 could arrive in next year's Galaxy Tab S lineup.

The benchmark listing also reveals the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 sporting a 10.5-inch display with 1,600x2,560 pixels resolution. This is a slight increase over the Tab S3's 9.7-inch screen. In terms of the camera component, the Tab S4 will receive a 12MP rear camera and 8MP front-facing camera. The Tab S4 is expected to run the latest Android 8.0 Oreo version out of the box.

In spite of this benchmark listing, the public is advised to take every detail with a grain of salt as Samsung has yet to make the confirmation on the Galaxy Tab S4's arrival this year.
