To lure their target market back to buy their flagship smartphones after the Galaxy Note 7 explosion controversies, Samsung is reportedly developing the Galaxy S8 with a larger OLED screen.
According to a report from the South Korean website, The Investor, Samsung will develop the rumored Galaxy S8 with a bigger OLED screen that will take up 90 percent of the entire unit.
While the report claims that a Samsung Display researcher named Park Won-sang declined to speak regarding the possibility of seeing a full-screen Galaxy S8, he reportedly hinted during the iMID 2016 display exhibition in Seoul that the tech giant is already spending a lot for the rumored development.
The researcher also added that there is also a chance to see the next-generation Samsung Galaxy flagship phones made with at least 99 percent OLED display in the future. This means that the company's next flagship phones will be made almost entirely with OLED screens just like Xiaomi's Mi Mix device that is made from 91.3 percent display screen.
Park also pointed out in the same report that placing a full-screen display on a smartphone device will provide more viewing satisfaction for users, especially when they are connected with virtual reality devices like Samsung Gear VR or the Daydream VR from Google.
If the rumored Samsung Galaxy S8 will indeed come out with a full OLED screen upon release, it could also mean that the device will feature a number of sensors built all over the device. Some of its possible features include a home button as well as a fingerprint scanner that will be placed underneath the device's display.
The rumored Samsung Galaxy S8 is also expected to feature an improved AI assistant, better cameras, as well as longer battery time.
The South Korean mobile device manufacturer is expected to release the new Samsung Galaxy S8 during the Mobile World Congress 2017 on Feb. 27 to March 2, 2017.
